According to the World Health
Organizations Country Profile, the leading cause of death occurring within
Australia is from ischmaemic heart disease at 14.5% (21.3 thousand people) in
2012. Furthermore, within the year 2000 to 2012 there has been zero change
within the rank. Then the second leading cause of death are strokes at 7.5%
(11.0 thousand people) with zero change in risk as well. With this all being
said, a few factors that may be leading causes of ischmaemic heart disease and
strokes may be tobacco use and obesity. In 2008, adult risk factors of obesity
were high in both males at 25.2% and females at 24.9%. Then in 2011, adult risk
factors of tobacco use were decently high in both males at 21% and females at
19%. Overall, with more research it could prove that both these risk factors
are most likely the main causes of the two leading causes of death within
Australia. Unforutaunatly, while researching for environmental health problems
I could not find anything. In other words, I came to a lot of dead ends.
Terrific write up of the WHO profile!
